Feedback vs Comments

I came across an interesting visual on social media few days back. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one certainly is.

It is a great example to understand the different between feedback and comments.

Based on the above, it should be evident that the emphasis of any feedback or formal review must be on a specific framework.

Open ended feedback can be very useful in select situations. However that must be collected with a deliberate choice. In most requirements, it is best to set an appropriate assessment or review framework to collect quality feedback that can be used for any purpose whether it is to support further action or take some critical decisions.

Without a good assessment or review framework, any information received is simply comments and can result into a variety of issues for both the recipient and sometimes for the giver too.
